Stick your neck out: Giraffe Sketchbook
As a kid, I apparently collected these animal fact cards. I recently discovered a binder of over 100 of them in my parents house and suddenly remembered the hours I spent reading and organizing them. They are filled with awesome photos, fun facts, and sweet illustrations that I couldn’t bare letting got to waste. This sketchbook is a member of the Animal Facts Series. The book cover is made from upcycled cardboard and covered in brown upcycled packing paper that is painted an earthy golden-yellow. Inside and out, the covers are collaged with cutouts of photographs and illustrations of giraffes. The back cover even includes a fascinating illustrated diagram of the giraffe giving birth!
The paper in this book are the remains of leftover marker paper from an old sketchbook. This marker paper is perfect for working out rough ideas in a variety of dry mediums ranging from graphite or ink. Bound together with purple embroidery floss using the coptic stitching method, the book is hand bound and offers a beautiful expose spine.
